After several years of extensive travel as a real estate franchise executive with Strout Realty, I returned to my first love: mountain and recreational real estate. Mariposa for us was and is the perfect place to live. Quiet, safe, beautiful, and full of our amazing friends. My wife Kay and I owned Sierra Gold Real Estate for over 20 years; growing it into a large and successful business because we purposely looked for ways to give back to our community. (Living here is like going back in time; you earn respect by showing up, sharing, and caring.) I'm actively involved in the community; having served as Director of John C. Fremont Hospital, Past President of the Board of Realtors and the Mariposa Rotary Club. I enjoy football, automobiles, and travel. I initiated a project for Mariposa students to go to Mexico each year to build an orphanage. I feel that my sense of integrity and ethics is well-respected in the community, and that my career has reflected my standards. What we most enjoy is helping integrate our buyers into the community by introducing them to people who share their interests, inviting them to local events, or just sharing our experience of Mariposa with them. I also specialize in out-of-area sellers who need and deserve extra communication when making long distance transactions. |

I really feel like I’ve come home after being away for fifteen years. I moved to Mariposa from the Midwest (Iowa to be exact) in 1984 after obtaining my real estate license and I went to work for CENTURY 21 Pinewood Properties. It was there that I did my apprentice time, got to know the area and basically learned the business. In 1990 I obtained my California Broker’s License shortly after co-purchasing the CENTURY 21 office and the name was changed to CENTURY 21 Four Seasons. It was during this time at a real estate function in San Diego where I met my wife who was living in the Bay Area at the time. Our plan was to make our life in Mariposa because we both loved it here. However, my wife was offered a job in the Bay Area which was too good of an opportunity to pass up, so off we went (me kicking and screaming) to the Walnut Creek/Concord area. Talk about a culture shock for this small town boy. I spent the first 18 months working for CENTURY 21 Hosking Associates in Walnut Creek. However feeling that I could use a change in life I ended up doing one of the other things I have always enjoyed – motorcycles. I was the Parts Manager for McGuire Harley-Davidson in Walnut Creek until October 2009. Since the day we left Mariposa our dream has been to eventually come back to the town and the area that we both love. Finally last year our dream came true when both us were able to make the move here. It’s great to be home! I’ve got lots of catching up to do and I look forward to seeing old friends and acquaintances. | |

Dorie Bruen I moved to Mariposa 12 years ago after spending most of my adult life on Cape Cod, although I was born and raised in New York City. I loved it here right away because everyone is so friendly and helpful, The best thing I've ever done is get my real estate license - it was a friend's idea!. I love meeting so many interesting people here and helping them find a home or land here in Mariposa that suits them. I probably get as anxious as they do waiting for a response to an offer. I do enjoy driving around looking at our lovely Mariposa property; one never knows what beautiful vista will appear around the next curve in the road. My name is Bruce MacArthur. My wife Nanci and I purchased a beautiful parcel in Mariposa 10 years ago with the intent of retiring here in the future. Well, we decided we couldn't wait to be in the Mountains, so here we are. We moved up, improved the land and purchased a very large, comfortable manufactured home. Having completed that project and settled into the community, Nanci worked for years with the County and has since retired to concentrate on getting those last few units in Business Administration to complete her college degree. I decided to go back into Real Estate and help other people find their dream homes here in the mountains. Although I spent the previous 15 years owning and running a race car business, selling safety equipment, doing fabrication and management for semi professional race car teams; my real estate experience goes back to the prior 11 years in mortgage lending. I started and ran a successful mortgage brokerage for all those years, providing financing during the time when interest rates were in the 20% range. Needless to say, it was quite an experience. During those early years, I was also associated with several local real estate offices, helping them sell properties up and down the San Francisco Peninsula. Now, as part of the experienced Team at Daily and Company, I'm poised to be your guide to the experience of Mariposa County and it's residents. You could even take a side trip up to Yosemite while your here. So, whether it be purchasing land, a home, or just general questions to help you settle into the new community, I'm your man. |
